CRFR has taken the initiative of giving shoppers points for using their own bags now, thank goodness! Jaya Supermarket didn't use to let shoppers bring their own bags either. So many things are changing, and all of these are for the better. Thank you Earthy-Crunchy Kitties and Planeteer Mama!~CovertOperations78~https://www.blogger.com/profile/05533605886607468773noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4037275061245964811.post-57560057672272645322010-02-25T00:17:07.001+08:002010-02-25T00:17:07.001+08:00Sure thing, Emily!

Mutilation you said? They'll butcher it!...CO78,
Mutilation you said? They'll butcher it! Happened to my Mama! hahahah...anyway, I got your point the first time. The point about littering is my addendum. There are friends of us who throw away rubbish indiscriminately and said it's biodegradable, it'll disintegrate anyway. Well, cat poo is both organic and biodegradable. What if we don't put them in the bin? Whole house will stink.
Anyway, my Mama said the last time she went shopping in a Malaysian supermart chain, she was happy to see them selling green bags. So, she bought some to put her groceries in. Guess what? The checkout cashier put d bags in a plastic bag! When Mama asked why, the reply was: "most customers do that." So Mama showed her (nicely, OK) how cashiers in OZ do it. Oh, and what about hypermarts (C*rr*f***) not allowing shoppers to bring their own bag? Mama stopped shopping there. Some people just don't get it. Glad to report that my Mama uses "mangkuk sia" to tapau her lunch to work. Been doing that for years. purrr...meow!Cat-from-Sydneyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04316678270023647758noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4037275061245964811.post-48251858079594622292010-02-24T15:26:52.078+08:002010-02-24T15:26:52.078+08:00Thank you very much, Louis! Yes, that's righ...Thanks for your support, Pat! Yes, that's right, we used to use stainless steel 'tiffin carriers', and the food would remain hot and clean and we could eat right out of the containers and not have to deal with wet, messy plastic bags, strings and polystyrene clamboxes. Thankfully those tiffin carriers are making a comeback and there are restaurants that charge us less if we bring our own containers. I hope the practice increases in popularity.~CovertOperations78~https://www.blogger.com/profile/05533605886607468773noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4037275061245964811.post-35949460780351583852010-02-24T10:05:48.400+08:002010-02-24T10:05:48.400+08:00I like the way it was when I was young. We'd carry a container - usually stainess-steel - to the wantan mee man, and then carry our hot food home in it!

It is/was much safer than the industrial-strength plastic bags we use today that they say is safe with hot stuff. I do not believe that. Plastic is not my favourite thingy!

And you are right. Polystyrene is soon going to cover the earth from coast to coast! Not creating opportunities for litter in the first place. Using less packaging. Going for permanent tableware and food containers. Biodegradable packaging only as the second-best option.

And yes, whatever litter generated should be properly disposed of.~CovertOperations78~https://www.blogger.com/profile/05533605886607468773noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4037275061245964811.post-713853947753527832010-02-24T09:00:20.674+08:002010-02-24T09:00:20.674+08:00CO78,

Rubbish should be put where it's supposed to be put - in the bin!
